Tesla’s massive gigafactory east of Sparks is getting bigger.

That’s according to new footage posted on YouTube by user Matthew Roberts on Dec. 22. His drone video shows the latest construction happening at the gigafactory, Tesla’s multi-billion dollar factory that will produce batteries for the company’s electric cars and power supply products for homes and businesses.

The gigafactory broke ground in June 2014 and is expected to be operating at full capacity in 2018, according to Tesla.

The building is being constructed in sections. So while crews are still constructing the factory, substantial portions of the building are already operational.

The Reno Gazette-Journal toured the factory in March. At the time, the building had a footprint of about 800,000 square feet and about 1.9 million square feet in total manufacturing space spread out over four stories.

The project, which includes a partnership with Panasonic, was awarded $1.3 billion in tax incentives by the Nevada Legislature to build at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. The tax incentive package requires Tesla to invest at least $3.5 billion into the project within 10 years.
